Abstract:Objective: Animal medicine is an important part of traditional Chinese medicine. The insect class is the largest class in the animal kingdom, accounting for 2/3 of the animal kingdom, and is also the most abundant animal medicine resource. It is of great significance to strengthen the textual research, conduct source investigations, increase the description of insect-based terminology, and add corresponding microscopic identification to identify medicinal insects which is important for the development and utilization of their resources. Methods: We try to establish a set of research specifications for the identification of medicinal insects, ranging from macroscopic morphology to microscopic structure. Results: The macroscopic and microscopic identification of objects such as insect bodies, insect by-products or secretions, fungal complexes, and abnormal tissues produced by plants stimulated by insects was carried out. Conclusion: In this study, the standardization of traditional identification methods used for medicinal insects were established, which can provide reference for the digital identification of medicinal insects. |
